Patent Prosecution and Trademark Paralegal - Cozen O’Connor - Seattle, WA

The Seattle office of Cozen O’Connor is currently seeking an experienced Patent Prosecution and Trademark Paralegal.  Strong writing and communication skills required, as well as strong attention to detail and ability to take ownership of large docket.  Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel) required.  Experience with IManage/Worksite, FoundationIP, and/or Corsearch a plus.  Ideal candidate will have 3+ years of relevant experience.   

Primary Responsibilities:

Patent

  • Domestic and international patent filing and prosecution.
  • File U.S. and PCT patent applications using USPTO EFS.
  • Assist the supervising attorneys to ensure that all docket dates and all related patent deadlines are timely met.
  • Legalization of documents.
  • Prepare reporting correspondence, status reports, response templates, etc.
  • Prepare patent filing documents and assignments.
  • Keep electronic document management system (Worksite) current.
  • Correspond with clients and foreign counsel.
  • Timely flagging events that may lead to preparation of IDSs and preparation of IDSs.
  • Proofreading issued patents and performing PTA calculation reviews.
Trademark
  • Domestic and international trademark filing, prosecution, and maintenance.
  • Assist in preparation and filing of UDRP and TTAB actions.
  • Prepare reporting correspondence, status reports, response templates, etc.
  • Prepare and record assignments.
  • Proofing docketed information, check statuses, and deadlines for accuracy.
  • Monitoring the status of third party domestic and foreign applications.
  • Legalization of documents, coordinating with vendor and foreign associates regarding same.

    General

  • Timely filing of all correspondence in the document management system.
  • Interact with clients and foreign counsel.
  • Prepare and assist in the preparation of all relevant written communications and IP documents.
  • Assist the supervising attorneys to ensure that all docket dates and all related deadlines are met.
  • Organize and maintain electronic files in a timely manner.
  • Administrative support: docketing and file management.
  • Additional projects and tasks as assigned.

A four year bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate required.
